The suspect in the killing of a make-up artist in Lobo, Batangas was found dead inside a detention center after his arrest on Saturday, January 31, according to authorities.
The 22-year-old suspect was arrested at a beach resort in Barangay Ibabang Tayuman, San Francisco, Quezon after receiving a tip that the victim's stolen motorcycle was seen in the area. He was brought to the Lobo Municipal Police Station for processing.
According to police, on Sunday night, the suspect's live-in partner noticed that he had been in the comfort room for a long time and immediately reported it to the guards. He was found unconscious and taken to the Lobo District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 6:41 p.m.
Before the incident, the suspect apologized in a brief interview. He said, "I'm just asking for forgiveness. My vision was just blurry, sir, I've been drinking." It was also learned that the suspect met and drank with the victim at the beach, and was seen on CCTV as driving the victim's motorcycle after the crime.
Apart from the first victim, police also discovered that the suspect also allegedly killed another LGBTQIA+ member on January 9, 2026 in San Juan, Batangas. The victim, a 57-year-old salon worker, was also hit in the face with a large rock before the suspect stole her motorcycle.
