The fourth suspect in the brutal killing of Police Senior Master Sgt. Diane Marie Mollenido and her son John Ysmael has surrendered to police, authorities said.
The suspect, the brother of one of the previously arrested suspects, went to the National Capital Region Police Office on Monday, February 2, 2026. According to him, the decision to surrender was due to conscience.
"My conscience can't take it anymore," the suspect said.
Following his surrender, the police held a closed-door conference to discuss new developments in the case. Three other suspects have been arrested: a 29-year-old car agent, a 44-year-old former police officer who was dismissed, and a helper. All are in the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit in Camp Karingal, Quezon City.
According to PNP Chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., the police have established motives for the killing. He said the details of the motive will be revealed the next day, Tuesday, February 3.
The bodies of Mollenido and Ysmael were discovered after they were reported missing on January 19. Mollenido's body was found on January 25 in Bulacan while Ysmael's body was found in Victoria, Tarlac, on January 29. Both bodies were wrapped in plastic and bore signs of violence.
