
Philippine tennis star Alex Eala will face a familiar opponent again in the first round of the Guadalajara 125 Open in Mexico.
She will face Arianne Hartono of the Netherlands from September 1–6. Eala, 20 and currently ranked WTA Rank No. 75, enters the tournament as a wild card and the second seed, behind only Russia's Kamilla Rakhimova (Rank No. 65).
Eala has now recorded three straight wins against Hartono. He first defeated him in 2023 and twice again this 2025, including their last match in Bengaluru, India where he won 6-2, 6-1.
Hartono, 29, is WTA Rank No. 187 and has a 17–22 win-loss record this year. Her highest ranking is No. 135, while Eala has reached No. 56 as of 2025.
From the US Open, Eala made history after becoming the first Filipino to win a singles match at a Grand Slam, a major step for her career that is worth millions of pesos in prize money and endorsements.
