Senator Erwin Tulfo is facing a quo warranto petition before the Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) over allegations of being disqualified as a senator due to the issue of his citizenship.
During the Senate budget hearing, SET Deputy Secretary Eleanor Francisco-Anunciacion noted that there is a pending case against a senator, later identified as Tulfo. According to the SET report, the petition was filed on July 15, 2025 by Berteni Cataluna Causing, who had previously filed a similar complaint against Tulfo.
A quo warranto petition is a case that questions the right of a person to hold a government position. According to the SET, it is still being processed and follows the tribunal's guidelines.
Tulfo said he was not surprised by the complaint because it was from the same person who filed disqualification cases against him during the campaign. He said, “We are ready to face this. All the cases filed against me have been dismissed.”
Tulfo added that he will continue his work as an elected official. “Let's just continue working. The people elected us to serve, and that's what we will do,” he said.
