Two public cemeteries in Manila — the Manila North Cemetery and Manila South Cemetery — have launched online platforms where families can search for the graves of their loved ones.
The new “Memorial Search” of Manila North Cemetery will show the name, date of death, section, lot, and grave number of the deceased. There is also a map to easily find the location. Meanwhile, Manila South Cemetery also has a “Grave List” that shows the full name and grave number of the deceased.
The cemetery management said they are still updating the database because thousands of names need to be entered.
Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso ordered city personnel to remain ready and visible around the cemetery for crowd control, cleanliness, and security. The Manila Police District, Department of Public Services, and Traffic Bureau will also coordinate to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Police remind people not to post real-time on social media while away from home to avoid thieves. They will only post after the trip.
More than ₱8,575 police officers and 2,600 barangay guards will be deployed in Metro Manila for security from October 29 to November 3.
Meanwhile, the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. is also ready for its “Biyaheng Arangkada” program. There is free towing for Class 1 vehicles from October 30 to November 3, and roadworks are suspended except in emergencies.
There is free water from Maynilad and free WiFi and charging stations from Smart Communications for travelers. Motorists are reminded to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition and that their RFID is sufficiently charged before traveling.
