The Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 denied the bail request of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his associates for the qualified human trafficking case. According to the resolution issued on July 20, 2025, the evidence against them is strong.
Judge Rainelda Estacio-Montesa presided over the decision and said there were sufficient reasons not to grant bail. Quiboloy, as the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, is said to have pushed the victim to become a full-time miracle worker and is linked to sexual exploitation under the so-called bodily connection ministry.
Also among those denied bail were Sylvia Cemañes, Paulene Canada, Jackielyn Roy, Cresente Canada, and Ingrid Canada. According to the court, their actions show a common purpose and connection to the crime.
However, Judge Estacio-Montesa clarified that this is not yet the final decision. The opportunity is still open for both sides to present additional evidence.
Meanwhile, Quiboloy's lawyer, Atty. Israelito Torreon, said they will file a motion for reconsideration because the decision allegedly did not include the victim's statements under cross-examination. He also clarified that they had nothing to do with any threats to the court and hope to investigate it.
