The suspect, Wang Danyu, also known as Baolong, was caught in Tawi-Tawi while on a speedboat bound for Malaysia. According to reports, this was the route he used to escape from the Philippines. Wang is the suspect in the shooting that took place on October 17, 2024 at the Xiaojun Liver Hotpot Restaurant in Makati.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV, where Wang can be seen shooting his fellow Chinese man, Liu, 29, several times, who died while being taken to the hospital. According to police, 8 empty shells and 5 bullets were recovered from the crime scene.
Authorities also found that Wang had a car theft case in 2022 and multiple criminal records in China. It was also confirmed that he was an illegal resident, was blacklisted by Immigration, and had an expired passport.
Wang is also part of the police's “Dragon Claw” special operation and has a ₱2 million bounty on his head. He was also implicated in the kidnapping case of a 14-year-old Chinese student in February.
According to the investigation, the crime may have been related to business or personal disputes. After months of on the run, the case has finally been resolved and the community is now safe from the danger posed by Wang Danyu.
