A baby died after his mother left him in a hot car for two hours. The incident occurred while Maya Hernandez, 20, from California, was getting lip filler injections at a spa. According to reports, the temperature outside was reaching 101°F at the time.
The baby was accompanied by his 2-year-old sibling, who survived and is currently in the hospital recovering. Hernandez faces involuntary manslaughter and two counts of willful cruelty to a child. According to the report, he did not hire a lawyer and entered a not guilty plea in court.
Hernandez admitted to police that he did wrong, but he had no clear reason for leaving the children. He said he left them in the car with air-conditioned, with candy, crackers, milk, and a cellphone to watch a video.
She didn't check on the children for two hours while at the spa. When she returned, she found one child foaming at the mouth and shaking. She attempted to save him using mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and immediately called 911.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the baby had an internal temperature of 107°F and was no longer alive. The sibling had a temperature of 99°F and was still eating and drinking. He is now safe and is in the care of authorities.
