A gas attendant in Cebu City almost lost three days of wages after a truck driver fled after not paying for P1,278.80 of diesel.
Rosely Pangaligan, who works at a Petron gas station on B. Rodriguez Street, said it happened around 1 a.m. on Sunday, June 22. She said if the driver doesn't return, she herself will have to pay the cost.
Two days later, the driver returned in the early morning of June 24 after the incident became a topic of conversation. He explained that the vehicle had been in an accident so he was unable to return immediately to pay.
In the same week, diesel prices suddenly rose due to tensions between Israel and Iran. Reports say that trade through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil routes, will be affected.
A two-step price increase was implemented so as not to shock the public too much. However, if the ceasefire continues, it is possible that gasoline prices could decrease slightly.
