The President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is opposed to the Duterte family's request to return to the Philippines former President Rodrigo "Digong" Duterte, who is now imprisoned in The Hague, Netherlands due to the case of crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In a media interview in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Marcos said that if reconciliation is truly desired, there should be no conditions. This came after Duterte's camp said Digong should be returned first before negotiating with Marcos.
Marcos insisted, "That's not the real arrangement. You shouldn't put conditions if you want to make an arrangement."
However, the President said he is still open to talks with the Dutertes to fix their relationship. He said it must be clear what the root of the problem is and how it can be fixed.
He added, "If we demand something before we talk, we won't get anywhere. The conversation is over then."
