A riding-in-tandem broke into a parked vehicle along Sumulong Highway, Brgy. San Isidro, Cainta, Rizal on the afternoon of May 25. According to the 57-year-old victim, her husband left her in the passenger seat while she got out to do some shopping. While she was waiting, a man suddenly opened the door and took her bag.
The suspect immediately boarded a waiting motorcycle after obtaining the bag. He fled to Masinag, Antipolo. According to Cainta Police, thieves often target vehicles with valuable items visible inside. Among the items stolen were P40,000, two cellphones, and the couple's IDs.
PCMS Nerico Sulit of the Cainta PNP said the perpetrators usually wear motor taxi uniforms or fake ride-hailing app uniforms to avoid being noticed. No clear CCTV footage was recovered from the scene of the incident because the cameras malfunctioned....
Police remind the public to keep vehicle doors locked and avoid leaving important items inside, especially in unsafe areas.
