Science SARU has revealed the first teaser for the new series of The Ghost in the Shell, which brings to life one of the world's most popular cyberpunk franchises. The project marks the series' first animated return since its final chapter in 2023, and is expected to bring a modern interpretation while respecting its strong foundations.
In the short teaser, we get a glimpse of Motoko Kusanagi with a new character design that pays homage to the original manga by Masamune Shirow. Debuting director Moko-chan is leading the production, in collaboration with veteran scriptwriter Toh Enjoe, while the music is created by a high-profile creative team known for powerful and atmospheric compositions.
Using Science SARU's trademark fluid and high-energy animation style, the series is expected to offer a fresh yet honest perspective on Motoko's fight against cybercrime. The Ghost in the Shell is set to premiere in July 2026, and fans can look forward to a significant new chapter in the continuing evolution of the saga.
