Marcos Jr.: Eliminating Corruption Is Like Removing Cancer

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has said that his focus on corruption in flood control projects is like surgery for cancer — painful, but necessary for the country to heal. According to him, the scandals, exposés, and changes in government are part of dismantling the old system that is full of abuse and wrongdoing.

Marcos said that even though the country is going through a difficult time, it needs to be done to stop the problems that have been recurring for the past three decades. He added, “we may be bleeding now, but Filipinos will rise up and recover soon.”

The scandal began after his SONA, where he ordered an investigation into substandard and ghost projects in flood control. There were arrest orders against former congressman Zaldy Co and several contractors. This led to resignations, leadership changes, and political issues.

Marcos assured that the campaign against corruption, abuse, and entitlement in the government will continue. He said they know the direction they are taking and will do everything, even 24/7, to complete the cleaning of the system.

The president also called on the media to fight fake news, which he called a “crazy mind game.” He asked for the help of journalists to teach the public to be more careful with information and not just believe false news and baseless theories.
