A 63-year-old cyclist was injured after colliding with a sedan in Brgy. Guitnang Bayan 1, San Mateo, Rizal at around 8:30 a.m. this Saturday, October 25.
In a video taken by a vlogger, the man can be seen speeding down a winding section of the Kambal Road Extension. Due to excessive speed, he crossed into the opposite lane and hit the side of a car.
According to Police Lieutenant Jaime Arquillo, the victim only suffered a bump on his head and scratches on his body. “Thankfully, he was wearing a helmet so his injuries were not serious,” the officer said.
After being treated at the hospital, the cyclist from Quezon City was also immediately sent home. The police added that cyclists often use Kambal Road even though it is accident-prone. So he reminded them to make sure their bicycles are in good condition and to know the route before riding.
The car driver will not file a complaint, because the cyclist will repair the damage to the door and side mirror, which is estimated to cost ₱10,000.
