The Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2 has been officially delayed from 2025 to 2026. According to FromSoftware, they need to further improve the game's performance and optimization to make it run smoothly on the new console.
This special edition includes the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, new armor, and customization options for Torrent, the player's spirit horse. Due to the size of the game world, there have been frame rate issues, especially when exploring the open world.
The studio aims to ensure that players have a high-quality experience on Switch 2. After the success of the original Elden Ring, which grossed over ₱8.4 billion (equivalent to $150 million) since its release in 2022, they don't want to disappoint fans.
FromSoftware apologized and thanked fans for their support. They said they needed more time to improve the game's technical performance before it was finally released in 2026.
