A fight between a couple in Barangay San Gabriel, Laurel, Batangas on Sunday night, October 12, ended in tragedy. A 63-year-old woman died after being beaten by her 62-year-old husband who was drunk.
According to the police, the suspect punched, stomped and hit his wife with a stick. The woman was dead on arrival at the hospital and an autopsy revealed that she died of a heart attack.
The couple's 13-year-old grandson was also injured. He was also punched and beaten with a stick by the suspect. The reason for the fight was money that was supposed to be the child's allowance for the whole week.
According to the family, they had been suffering from the abuse from their father for a long time, but their mother remained strong for the six siblings. At the precinct, the suspect initially denied the abuse but later confessed and apologized.
The man was charged with parricide and violation of Republic Act 7610 or the law against child abuse.
