The statement of US President Donald Trump: “The war in Gaza is over.” He said this while en route to Israel and Egypt for an important peace trip.
Trump, 79, noted that the ceasefire in Gaza had lasted three days and included an agreement on a hostage-prisoner exchange. According to him, “Everybody is tired. I'm sure the ceasefire will work.”
In Israel, he is scheduled to meet with families of Hamas prisoners before addressing the Israeli parliament. He will then travel to Egypt for a summit with more than 20 world leaders to support the 20-point peace plan announced in September.
Trump was accompanied by several high-ranking officials such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, CIA Chief John Ratcliffe, and General Dan Caine. According to Trump, he has verbal guarantees from Israel, Hamas, and other countries. “They don’t want to disappoint me,” he added.
Trump also expressed his desire to go to Gaza himself and establish a new government for it. He also plans to lead the governing body. “I would like to step foot there for a moment,” he said.
