Filipino racer Alfonsi Daquigan is still overjoyed after his back-to-back wins at the Asia Talent Cup 2025 in Mandalika, Indonesia. For the 16-year-old, it was a triple celebration: his first race win, he became the first Filipino to win the Asia Talent Cup, and he also celebrated his birthday.
In Race 1, Daquigan took the lead but received a double lap penalty. He didn't give up and stayed calm until he got back into the fight. In the last corner, two Japanese riders who were title contenders collided, giving Daquigan the historic win.
Entering Race 2, Daquigan admitted that he was more tired and sleepy. But when the lights started, his confidence returned. He controlled almost the entire race even though he made a mistake three laps before the end. He fell to P3, but he quickly recovered and regained the checkered flag.
With his back-to-back wins, Daquigan rose to P3 overall standings before the final round. He is still young but the Filipino rider has already shown his dedication and courage, making him a great inspiration to the Philippine motorsports community.
