The PBA Season 50 was further enhanced after the board meeting in Las Vegas, where events were slated for October 4 and 5 as the start of the golden season.
The first issue is the voting for new officers. Ricky Vargas, governor of TNT Tropang 5G, still wants to be convinced to remain as chairman. If he agrees, this will be his ninth consecutive term. He is also set to be the chef de mission of Team Philippines in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Commissioner Willie Marcial, Vice Chairman Alfrancis Chua, and other team governors arrived in Vegas. Among the topics to be discussed are the Season 49 report and the possible sale of NorthPort Batang Pier for an estimated ₱2.3 billion to the company Pureblends.
Season 50 will kick off with a grand opening at the Araneta Coliseum on August 5, coinciding with the Leo Awards at the Novotel. There will also be a fans day at the Big Dome and a special reunion of former PBA players at the Meralco Theater.
The summit also included approval of the season calendar, tournament formats, and new rules to be used in Season 50.
