
The number of those experiencing hunger among beneficiaries of the Walang Gutom program decreased in March, according to the SWS survey report.
From October 2024 to March 2025, hunger incidence decreased by 7.2%: from 48.7% in October, to 44.6% in December and further down to 41.5% in March.
The largest decrease was seen in the BARMM-plus cluster (Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Lanao del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay) which reached 17.4 percentage points. Almost one-third of the program's beneficiaries are in BARMM, where hunger is also highest.
According to SWS fellow Roehlano Briones, there is continuous improvement in various areas and aspects of the food quality of beneficiaries of the Walang Gutom program.
