Manila Bay has removed more than ₱23,000 worth of garbage, or the equivalent of 23,000 kilos, in just seven days of the coastal clean-up conducted in the Libertad Channel in Pasay City.
The massive cleanup from August 7 to 15 aims to reduce flooding in Metro Manila and protect residents' health from toxic waste and other hazards.
The local government and the private sector have collaborated to remove waste that blocks waterways and causes more serious environmental problems.
This work is supporting the call of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. to continue active measures to combat the long-standing problems of garbage and flooding.
