Panic gripped Denver International Airport when the brakes on American Airlines Flight 3023 caught fire while en route to Miami. According to reports, the plane had a mechanical issue while accelerating down the runway, forcing it to stop.
Due to the sudden full stop, the brakes burned and there were blown tires. The crew immediately took action and slid all 173 passengers and 6 crew members out using emergency slides.
One of the passengers suffered a minor injury and was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation. Social media captured images of thick smoke coming from under the plane as people evacuated—including a man who fell while carrying a child.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident as part of stricter aviation safety measures in the US.
