Vice President Sara Duterte has warned against the circulating photo of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is seen lying in a hospital bed. According to her, the photo is edited and does not reflect her father's true condition.
Sara said her father is not at the International Criminal Court (ICC) hospital but is in its regular wing. “He was walking recently, with a cane but it is clear that he is not sick,” the Vice President said.
Sara added that her father has lost a lot of weight but his face remains smooth and not wrinkled. She even teased her mother, “Maybe it's because he has an inner glow. He's thin but still looks good.”
Sara also suggested that she could ask her father's lawyer if the ICC could issue an official update on Duterte's health and his true picture.
It will be recalled that former President Duterte was arrested in March at NAIA and brought to the ICC for crimes against humanity charges related to the drug war. The hearing of his case is scheduled to begin on September 23, 2025. According to data, approximately 6,000 people have died in the anti-drug campaign, but according to human rights observers, this could reach 12,000 to 30,000.
