Japanese artist Shohei Ochiai has collaborated with Tamagotchi for a special edition. It is inspired by the original 1996 model and features hand-drawn artwork from Ochiai. In addition to the device, the packaging also features a design by him.
This gadget's release is perfect for the Gen Z bag charm trend. The Tamagotchi comes with a ball chain so it can be attached to a keychain, bag, or clothing. It has a translucent shell with a Y2K aesthetic and UFO-themed blue design. It also has blue buttons and border to match the overall look.
On the back, you'll find classic characters like Professor Banzo and Mikachu, along with the official Shohei Ochiai signature and serial number. This collab is a fusion of art, games, and fashion, showcasing Ochiai's colorful world and 90s nostalgia.
In the past, Ochiai also collaborated with New Era where he used the brand's logo on five caps and two t-shirts, using 3D embroidery style. As with Tamagotchi, he brought to life the theme of creative youth and imperfect beauty.
The device will be available in August 2025 and can now pre-order on the Beams web store. If you are a Tamagotchi fan or a collector of unique art toys, this is worth looking forward to.
