The driver of the bus that hit a vendor on Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City has been suspended by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for 90 days. The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon, where the victim was dragged for about four meters.
According to DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon, they will also issue a show-cause order for the bus operator. The 53-year-old woman was immediately taken to the hospital but died due to serious injuries to the body.
Based on initial investigations, the bus reportedly lost its brakes, causing it to reverse out of control. It hit an SUV and motorcycle before hitting the victim.
But according to some eyewitnesses, the bus was backing up so fast and it was plunging that people ran away from the area.
The driver is now in the custody of QCPD Traffic Sector 5 and may be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple damage to property.
