The fire in Barangay Rosario, Pasig City destroyed 100 houses on Monday night, June 30, 2025. Up to 131 families or more than 500 people were affected. The fire was raised to third alarm and lasted for almost three hours before being extinguished. More than one hundred firetrucks responded along with private volunteers and local government units. No one was injured or killed, but one man had difficulty breathing due to the thick smoke.

Many residents saved no one except themselves. According to Niño Garde, “We saved our lives, so we saved no one. Let's just go back to work.” There were also some who couldn't enter their homes, like Gina Boco, who said her family was running. Analyn Dela Cruz, assured that even her dogs would be saved.

The Bureau of Fire Protection had a challenge putting out the fire due to thick smoke. They used Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus or SCBA. explosions were also heard coming from electrical wirings and LPG. Most of the houses are made of lightweight materials, so the fire spread quickly.

Residents were evacuated to the Barangay Manggahan covered court. According to Chairman Quin Cruz, they are ready to help because cooperation knows no bounds in a disaster. 20 dogs were also transferred to the animal shelter of the evacuation center. John Mark Martinez said, “A greater blessing will come back. This is just a test.”

The local government has already distributed sleeping kits, hygiene kits, and food. The DSWD and LGU are also preparing financial assistance. The cause of the fire and the total cost of the damage are still under investigation.
