New Senator Erwin Tulfo has warned that the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte should not be rushed or dismissed lightly. In his first press briefing on June 30, Tulfo said the Senate should listen to the evidence before making a decision. According to him, it is important for the people to know the truth because they are the ones who elected the officials.
Tulfo mentioned that if the Senate avoids a formal trial, it could cause legal problems. He added that if the complaint lacks sufficient basis, he himself will take the lead in dismissing it. But before that, he wants to ensure that there is a fair hearing.
He also explained that if the case is not resolved properly, Duterte will always be in trouble over this issue. He said it needs to be properly concluded legally so that there is no doubt.
His focus was not only on impeachment. Tulfo also submitted ten bills related to agriculture, education, health, and good governance. Some of these are the Review of the Rice Tariffication Law, the Barangay Officials’ Salary Standardization Law, and the Anti-Road Rage Act.
