
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has launched a new program to strengthen the orientation of Filipinos leaving the country and foreigners visiting the Philippines.
The first meeting at the DFA office was attended by representatives from international organizations and diplomatic missions of various countries with large Filipino communities. They discussed current measures and shared best practices for traveler education and cross-cultural preparedness.
According to the DFA, this is part of its ongoing efforts to provide safer and more informed travel for Filipinos and strengthen understanding between the Philippines and international partners.
Among those in attendance were the embassies of Canada, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, New Zealand, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and the United States. Also present were representatives from the International Organization for Migration and New Zealand Filipino Community’s Whakamana Program.
The meeting discussed strategies to better organize seminars according to the destination and type of traveler. The importance of cooperation between various agencies and countries, and the development of cultural understanding and compliance with the law while traveling were also mentioned.
