A policeman and a robber died after a encounter in Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City early Monday. According to police, they heard gunshots near the corner of Katuparan St. and Katipunan St. so they immediately went there.
In the initial investigation, the police were able to talk to the suspect. The suspect told the police, "Run over there," but he suddenly pulled out a gun and shot the police officer in the right chest.
The police returned fire, hitting the suspect. The policeman's companion also opened fire, killing the suspect.
Before the encounter, according to the witness, the suspect robbed and shot a 44-year-old man who was hit in the left shoulder.
Another person was hit by a stray bullet and was immediately taken to the hospital. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
