JOOPITER, owned by Pharrell Williams, announced record-breaking results in its first sports collectible sale titled “Rising Greatness: 1986-87 Michael Jordan Rookie Card.”
A signed 1986-87 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan Rookie Card sold for $2.5 million USD, making it the most expensive card of its kind ever sold on the market. The sale reached 50 countries, making the interest global. The card is PSA Mint 9 graded and has a Gem Mint 10 grade on Jordan's signature, one of only three cards to have this grade.
Michael Jordan signed the card in 2024 to commemorate his famous rookie season and the Air Jordan 1 debut. The 1986-87 Fleer #57 card is one of nine he signed at a private signing event.
This is the first time that this type of graded card has been sold to the public, so it's big news for sports memorabilia enthusiasts. This achievement shows how valuable rare collectibles can be, especially when they're signed by a legend like Jordan.
