A cyclist died after being hit by an SUV on Shaw Boulevard, Barangay Kapitolyo, Pasig on Tuesday. According to reports, he was passing through the bike lane when the door of an illegally parked L300 van suddenly opened.
The cyclist was hit after losing his balance while avoiding the van door. As he was falling, an SUV passed by and was unable to avoid it.
According to S/Sgt. Benedict Lagarte, the SUV was traveling at a moderate speed but it still hit the victim.
Mayor Vico Sotto announced that both drivers will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
The vehicles are now in custody and Pasig City Hall is trying to contact the victim's family. Mayor Sotto also promised that the TPMO will be stricter in enforcing traffic laws.
