
The voice behind Abuelita Elena in the film Coco, Renée Victor, has died at the age of 86 from lymphoma. She was surrounded by her family at her home in Sherman Oaks, California, according to a statement from her agency.
Renée is known not only for her character in Coco, but also for her extensive contributions to the world of art. Aside from being part of the Pixar family, she also appeared in the popular series Weeds and voiced several characters in the video game Skyrim: The Elder Scrolls.
Her children, Margo and Raquel Victor, celebrated their mother's memory. They said, "Renée was loved by many and will continue to be remembered by all who knew her."
Pixar also paid tribute, saying they were 'heartbroken' by Renée's loss and that she would remain a valued part of their family.
Born in San Antonio, Texas on July 25, 1938, Renée was also known for her ability to speak several languages. She enjoys movies, poetry (especially Pablo Neruda and Sor Juana), cooking for her family, and traveling.
