A father in Cotabato died in an accident on the very day of his wife's funeral.
While heading to a water refilling station in Barangay Kilada, Matalam, the Mitsubishi Adventure driven by Junifel Conel Sr. crashed into a parked ten-wheeler truck. He was accompanied by his son, Junifel Jr., who sustained injuries and is currently recovering in the hospital.
The incident occurred while they were carrying water that they planned to take to the cemetery where their mother would be buried. According to relatives, Conel could not sleep after the last night of the funeral. It is believed that he fell asleep while driving, causing him to swerve to the other side of the road.
Although it is painful, the family still proceeded with the funeral of the late lady. For now, the two children are temporarily being cared for by members of the Conel clan in Matalam who have promised to take care of them.
What happened to the couple is heartbreaking, but the concern of their family and community is also palpable. Amidst the sadness, relatives hope that the two children will rise again with the help of those who love them.
