The family of a 48-year-old election leader in Naic, Cavite is calling for justice after he was shot in front of their house in Brgy. Sabang on Saturday, May 24. CCTV footage shows him getting out of an SUV to open the gate when he was suddenly approached and shot in the head by a man wearing a jacket and hat.
The suspect quickly fled on a motorcycle after the shooting. According to barangay deputy officer Arnold Merallo, the victim was dead when he was found.
According to the victim's wife, the crime may be politically related. She was an active supporter of Mayor-elect Rommel Magbitang during the elections. The victim also told her husband that she received threats before and on election day.
The family is left with three children, including the eldest who recently passed the Licensure Exam for Teachers. It is painful for them to lose their father at a time when they are just starting to achieve their dreams.
There is no statement yet from Mayor-elect Magbitang's camp, while the Naic Police investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
