A 10-year-old boy died after undergoing circumcision at a clinic in Tondo, Manila on Saturday, May 17. According to his mother, Marjorie San Agustin, she learned from a friend's social media post that the said clinic offered cheap circumcision, so she immediately went there with her son.
The child was reportedly happy while being circumcised, and his mother even took a video of him. When asked if it hurt, he smiled and said it didn't. Just a few minutes later, Marjorie was called because the child seemed to be shaking and was having difficulty breathing.
The child was blacking out and started having seizures, according to Marjorie. They immediately ran to the hospital but upon arrival, Nathan reportedly had no pulse. The family could not accept the sudden and inexplicable event.
Nathan is helpful and a hard worker, said Marjorie. He also has honors and loves to dance. That's why losing his son is so painful for him. The family wants justice and accountability from the doctor who performed the circumcision.
The family has already filed a complaint with the Manila Police District and has also asked for help from the NBI. Marjorie will temporarily postpone the second autopsy out of compassion for her son. Instead, she will focus on seeking justice for Nathan.
