Google has unveiled a new version of its iconic “G” logo after nearly a decade. It’s not too far removed from the old design—but it’s notable for its cleaner shape, smoother curves, and a more modern overall look.
The familiar combination of blue, red, yellow, and green will still remain. However, you will notice that the colors blend better, with no hard lines or boundaries between them. Although the change is small, it has a huge impact on modern branding.
This update aims to make the logo more responsive across a variety of screen sizes—from smartphones to desktops. Currently, the new “G” logo is available on Pixel phones and will gradually be rolled out to other devices.
The last major logo change was in 2015, when a simpler Sans-Serif font was adopted. Now, the letterform is more refined but still has the familiar feel we've come to expect from Google.
Amidst technological change, Google wants to remain timeless but future-ready. This small update is a symbol of their continued leveling up while staying true to their identity.
