The alleged kidnapping in Lapu-Lapu, just a family drama?
According to Barangay Captain Ruben V. Patigdas Sr. of Subabasbas, it is possible that what happened on the night of May 19 in Sitio Suba Panas was not a real kidnapping, but simply a family dispute. They reportedly received a call around 7:30 p.m. and immediately responded as part of their duty.
Captain Patigdas learned that the victims — a woman and two children — were from the neighboring town of Cordova and not residents of Subabasbas. Some said they were good swimmers before the incident.
Although many people gathered at the scene, it is still unclear whether a kidnapping actually occurred. “It is only natural that we, as the father of the village, would be alarmed,” said Patigdas, but for now, the full story seems unclear.
