The 17 Taiwanese wanted in their country were arrested by the NBI on May 15 in a subdivision in Cebu City. One of them is a woman. According to the investigation, the group has been hiding in the city for a long time while allegedly involved in scamming activities.
Six of those arrested are alleged to be members of the notorious Four Seas Gang from Taiwan, and have warrants of arrest in their country. Authorities received information after it was confirmed that one of them had flown from Manila to Cebu.
The operation revealed that the group was involved in what is known as “romance scams”. They use scripts and sweet talk to entice victims, usually online.
