The De Tomaso P72 has been officially unveiled as a production-spec supercar with a retro design and classic driving feel. It is inspired by 1960s motorsport style, especially from the De Tomaso P70 built with Carroll Shelby. It was first shown in 2019 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and is now ready to be built for select customers.
Its hand-built 5L supercharged V8 engine has 700 hp with 604 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is manual—six gears—and has exposed metal shift linkage, providing a raw and authentic connection to the driver. It has no drive modes, no digital screens, and no techy distractions.
Its entire body is made of carbon fiber monocoque chassis, using a full weave for maximum strength and balance. It also has push-rod suspension for solid handling on the road. This is truly a creation for the purist driver who wants the classic feel of a sports car.
Inside the cabin, the vibe is elegantly vintage. There's hand-stitched leather, milled aluminum switches, and mechanical details that are truly bespoke. Each unit is custom-made and hand-finished, so each one is sure to be unique.
Only 72 units of the De Tomaso P72 will be built, making it extremely limited. Deliveries are expected to begin in late 2025. If you're looking for a pure analogue supercar with the power and heart of the past, this is perfect for you.
