The Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay was filled with excitement and joy this Sunday morning, as more than 30,000 people participated in the Angels Walk for Autism 2025. It was organized by the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) in support of autism awareness and inclusion.
According to the ASP, an estimated 1.2 million Filipinos are living with autism, equivalent to one in every 100 people.
Mona Magno-Veluz, ASP spokesperson and known online as Mighty Magulang, highlighted the strengths of individuals on the spectrum. “We also want to be seen and heard. People with autism and their families should not be held back by fear of not being understood by society,” Veluz said.
One of the featured performers was Cid Tampo from ASP Iloilo, who performed a song about the challenges and dreams of people with autism. He said, “I want to share my talent and advocacy — that there is nothing to be afraid of with autism.”
Also in attendance were some famous personalities such as Carmina Villarroel, Vivoree, Gelli de Belen, and Pepe Herrera. Sen. Risa Hontiveros was honored for her laws that support the autism community.
