The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has seized more than P4.43 million worth of ecstasy and heroin at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). The illegal drugs were discovered in six suspicious shipments.
At the Central Mail Exchange Center of NAIA, the parcels were intercepted. Upon opening, 1,330 ecstasy tablets and 362 grams of heroin were found hidden inside items declared as skincare products and plumbing materials.
According to the report, the parcels originated from Ireland, the Netherlands, and Thailand. The shipment was defrauded by falsely declaring its contents.
Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said the operation was successful due to the assistance of the PDEA and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG).
The confiscated drugs were surrendered to PDEA for further investigation. Authorities are continuing to focus on identifying those behind the illegal shipment.
