The five people — one Korean, two Chinese, and two Filipinos — were abducted by 7 to 10 armed men in Nasugbu, Batangas on May 2 while they were traveling to a fishing trip.
According to a report by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea, the Korean was released on Monday, three days after the incident. He is in good condition and is under the care of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The two Chinese were previously released. There is no information yet on the condition of the two Filipinos who were also among the victims.
It is unclear whether the victims paid a ransom for their freedom. Authorities are investigating the incident after the Korean who was first released reported.
The Embassy of South Korea is already coordinating with authorities in the Philippines for the proper care of their compatriots.
