
A military helicopter crashed in Loreto, Agusan del Sur on Tuesday, with six soldiers confirmed dead, according to the Armed Forces of the Philippines - Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom).
Six bodies were recovered from the crash site, believed to be the pilots and crew of the Super Huey helicopter. Their names have not been released until their families have been notified.
According to the report, the Super Huey was en route to areas hit by Typhoon Tino to provide disaster response assistance. It lost contact while en route from Davao to Butuan along with three other choppers for a Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) mission.
A search and rescue operation was immediately launched after the helicopter lost signal. Residents saw what appeared to be burnt bodies at the scene of the incident. The Philippine Air Force is continuing to conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
