A new nationwide campaign by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) has begun to promote motorcyclist safety and road education. The project aims to improve rider awareness and reduce road accidents.
The MDPPA includes major motorcycle manufacturers such as Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, and TVS. With their support, it is hoped that the message of responsible driving will be better spread throughout the country.
According to Transportation Secretary Giovanni “Banoy” Lopez, “DOTr is ready to launch activities under this MOA. We thank MDPPA and our other partners who join us in ensuring that our roads are safe for motorists and commuters.”
DOTr Undersecretary Ramon Reyes presided over the signing of the agreement, which also coincided with the induction of new MDPPA officials. The new leaders include Erwin Estrada (Honda Philippines) as president, Romeo Tan (Yamaha) as VP, Norminio Mojica (Suzuki) as Treasurer, and Alexander Cumpas (Kawasaki) as Auditor.
The DOTr and MDPPA hope that through broader education and awareness programs, more riders will be disciplined and safe on the roads. This is a step towards a responsible and orderly motoring culture nationwide.
