A vintage bomb was unearthed Tuesday morning at the side of the Institute of Chemistry – Teaching Building in UP Diliman, Quezon City. It was discovered during excavation work for a driveway, prompting the immediate halt of construction as a safety precaution for everyone in the vicinity.
According to officials in the area, the evacuation of students and staff of the building was quickly implemented after the suspicious object was confirmed. The Quezon City Police Explosive and Ordnance Division (EOD) also responded immediately to examine and safely recover the said bomb without incident.
As part of safety protocols, access to the affected building has been suspended while clearing and assessment are underway. The administration commended the prompt action of the authorities and the university community, which resulted in a orderly and safe resolution of the situation.
