In Malolos, Bulacan, a shocking incident shook the community when the body of Police Staff Sergeant Renato Casauay Jr. was found in a septic tank in Felicissima Village, Barangay Mojon, on January 31, 2026. The victim, 46 years old, had a gunshot wound and was in an advanced state of decomposition upon discovery.
Casuay, who was assigned to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Group, Special Operations Unit 3, was last seen on his birthday, January 24. According to the report, he told his wife that he was going to Malolos via motorcycle, but he never returned home.
Four individuals, including a policeman from the Malolos City Police Station, have been arrested in connection with his death. The area where his body was found, believed to be the residence of one of the arrested, is under tight security by the barangay and police.
The neighbors were very shocked and saddened by Casauay's cruel fate. One of them, Arman Tiquia, said, “I was a little sad because it was so sudden. That guy was kind. He had no enemies here… Even though he came out of here, he didn't have the arrogance of being a police officer.”
Currently, Casauay's ashes are in Baliwag, Bulacan, and his family remains determined to obtain justice. The Malolos City PNP is still investigating while maintaining security around the incident.
