Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito has called for a formal investigation regarding the BOSS Ironman Motorcycle Challenge Mindanao Cup, held from January 30 to February 1, 2026. The move aims to review safety standards and the implementation of guidelines in endurance rides related to motorcycle tourism.
In his resolution, the Senate Committee on Tourism was directed to conduct an inquiry in aid of legislation to ensure the protection of participants and the public, while promoting domestic tourism. It emphasizes the importance of clear safety standards and strict enforcement protocols in such activities.
According to Sen. JV Ejercito, the road accidents involving some participants could have been avoided if the activity had been conducted as a authentic and responsible motorcycle tourism event. He pointed out the need to balance the vitality of tourism with road safety.
Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) issued a Show Cause Order against the organizer following reports of multiple collisions, including one fatal incident, and alleged traffic violations by some participants captured in photos and videos.
The LTO emphasized that under Republic Act No. 4136, organizers have a legal and moral obligation to ensure road safety at all times. This issue, the agency said, is a clear reminder that safety cannot be neglected in any private motor vehicle event.
