A dump truck crashed into two houses on Sumulong Highway, Bgy. Mambugan, Antipolo City past 1:00 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2026. According to reports, it is possible that the truck lost its brakes, causing the driver to lose control.
According to Roman De Guzman of the Office of Public Safety and Security Motorcycle Unit of the Antipolo City LGU, the truck was speeding and lost control before crashing into the residential area. After the incident, the driver and attendant of the truck were no longer in the area.
The story of Belen Caspe, a resident of the house that was hit, says that fortunately they were not inside the house at the time of the accident. “My youngest grandchild had a birthday so I sent them home. We were just shocked by what happened at home,” said Caspe.
The resident added that while he was cooking spaghetti, his grandson noticed that a truck had hit their store. Fortunately, no one was injured or killed in the incident, although the property was destroyed.
The truck has currently been impounded by the LGU and the driver may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property. The incident is a reminder of the importance of road safety, especially in residential areas.
