The Palestinian embassy in London was officially inaugurated on Monday, a historical stage in British-Palestinian relations, according to Ambassador Husam Zomlot. He said that this is not just a name change, but a progress towards Palestinian statehood.
Zomlot declared that today is a day of hope, stability, and a reminder that peace is possible and inevitable if rooted in justice, dignity, and equality. The ceremony included the unveiling of a new embassy plaque at the former Palestinian Mission in West London.
According to the UK representative Alistair Harrison, the gathering was a “moment of hope” and the beginning of a new bilateral relationship. There is currently a fragile ceasefire in Gaza after the deadly war in October 2023, which sparked an international call for peace and security.
