
The OCD has ordered a mandatory evacuation in areas within the 6-kilometer permanent danger zone of Mayon Volcano, which is currently at Alert Level 3. An estimated 729 families or 2,889 individuals were evacuated from 30 barangays in Tabaco City, Ligao City, Legazpi City, and the towns of Malilipot, Santo Domingo, Camalig, Guinobatan, and Bacacay.
According to OCD spokesperson Junie Castillo, the level of preparedness is high and local governments have contingency plans for the activities of Mayon Volcano. No-entry policy is strictly enforced within the 6-km danger zone, especially in Tabaco City, Santo Domingo, Malilipot, and nearby areas of Legazpi City.
